I was talking with the elementary children about Rock N Roll Easter, and it was awesome to see them respond to reaching out and inviting friends. It is awesome to see children strong in their faith and wanting to reach out to others.

    Which campus do you attend?

I have been attending the Sugar Grove Campus since early 2012.

I have been married to Roger since 1999. We have been blessed to be able to experience many regions of our country with him to see how God is working along with see God grow in our marriage and us as individuals. We moved to the Illinois area in Fall of 2011 with Roger's job at Navistar. Before kids I was an early childhood special needs teacher. God has blessed us with four kids, (Hope, Marissa, Holly, and Brock), whom I homeschool. God blessed us with Village Bible Church the first Sunday we were living in Illinois.  I have been able to serve in Generations, Feed the Flock, teaching Sunday School, leading VBS, and now Children's Ministry Director.  I am very excited to where God is leading my family!

Why did you decide to become involved with children's ministry?

God has given me a natural ability to work with children. I started helping with Sunday School during high school and to this day, I still completely enjoy it. I love to start preparing each child's heart towards the moment that they accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. It has been fun to see how God has worked within me to combine my natural ability with children and my spiritual gift as administrator to minister to the children here at Village Bible Church.

What has been your most memorable moment within the ministry?

It brings joy to me heart, when I hear preschool children be able to retell Bible stories and answer questions. Just about a month ago I was talking with the elementary children about Rock N Roll Easter, and it was awesome to see them respond to reaching out and inviting friends. Several were extremely excited about inviting friends who did not go to church. It is awesome to see children strong in their faith and wanting to reach out to others.

How much time do you spend as the children’s ministry director?

I spend about 20 -25 hours each week.

What are some of the biggest needs in the children’s ministry right now?

The children's ministry continues to grow. As it grows, there are growing needs for people to volunteer as Gospel Project teachers (both preschool and elementary), nursery volunteers and Awana leaders (both preschool and elementary) on a regular basis. There is also a need for special outreach volunteers for ministries like VBS, missions, special needs, Rock N Roll Easter and more. We are in immediate help for Athens Summer Edition on Sunday mornings during 9 a.m. worship serve. The nursery is also in immediate need for a couple of team leaders.

How can people get involved with these needs?

First, the Children's Ministry needs constant prayer for the adult leaders, youth leaders, and the children. Second, we want to make sure that we match up people’s gifts to the opportunities that we have, so I would encourage you to take The Place inventory so that we can find the best fit. (It may not even be in children’s ministry). I would be willing to talk to anyone willing to anyone about the many different opportunities to serve.
