July Elder Update

07.02.09

Summer ministry is not just beginning but is in full swing, and we want to take a moment to give you a brief ministry update.

Welcome to the summer. There’s no question we’ve hit it: the temps are high and the water parks are packed!

Summer ministry is not just beginning but is in full swing, and we want to take a moment to give you a brief ministry update.

Summer Ministry: Family camp kicked off the summer, followed by our Aliens’ summer mission project in Chicago, then Lake Ann for many of our students, then our Alaska mission trip, and as we write this, the final prep is underway for our very first summer sports camp! And the summer’s not even half over – wow! In the next few weeks, we have a nationally renowned parenting seminar coming to the church, the Refuge student ministry will be heading to Detroit for their summer mission trip, and VBS will take place… A lot is going on in the life of the church!

clocks - Summer Worship ServicesSummer Services: We’ve now officially made the change to two worship dervices and were encouraged with our first week – it was an exciting morning and the feedback was very positive. At the same time, we have now officially made the change to two worship services. As we discussed in the June Ministry Update, this gives us an opportunity to reach more people, to focus on excellence and to provide a greater level of flexibility. As we all learn together how best to do this, please try to be flexible, gracious, adaptable and understanding. Above all, please join us in prayer that this change will be effective, enabling us to bring even greater glory to God and to have even greater impact in the world for His Kingdom.

Serving God: We also need people to step up to SERVE in the nursery and preschool and also to serve as greeters and ushers (Just in case you thought someone else would do it, it takes 250-270 people serving on a 4-6 week rotation to make our Sunday morning children’s ministries happen. There are about 500 people high school aged and up who regularly attend Village. You can do the math!

resurgence - Resurgence - The Road to...Adoption: The church adoption trials are going very well. As we walk down this path, we are discovering many ministry opportunities that our churches would not have had on their own. That’s exciting. Read more: Click Here.

Finances: This is a challenging year financially – and the church is certainly not immune to that. Read more about how we’re addressing these challenges: Click Here.

Thank you for your ongoing service to God and support for the ministry of Village Bible Church.

    Your elder team,

Al Gonnerman, Mario Arindaeng, Tim Badal, Scott Capp, Keith Duff, Jon Pilkington & Ray Prigodich
