Bring the Whole Tithe into the Storehouse

Posted by Mary Etchison on

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. ~ Malachi 3:10

This verse came to life for us today!

We went to a very rural church where the ABIDE girls had been on a very fruitful outreach ministry all weekend. But don't let rural fool you - rural, in this case, doesn't mean small or boring. Far from it! Walking through the doors of the church, I could feel the joy and energy of the congregation as they sang and danced praises to the Lord.

One of my favorite parts of the church service was the offering and the whole experience of it. Things got very interesting when it came time to take the offering. Many walked forward with joy and gave what they could. Some brought money but many brought their 'income' - their produce: goats, chickens, beans, fruit, bananas, tomatoes, sugar cane... After they gave they stood in the front of the church and sang and danced. They were thankful for the gifts they had given and it showed it on their faces, in their voices, and in their dancing.

Following worship, was a warm welcoming to each church, school and our team. Every group was welcomed by name and with applause. What a way to be welcomed! It is so amazing to see the work God is doing all around us. Even small things like being welcomed in this way, and being shown such kindness, can be so meaningful.
