Team Leader: Mario Arindaeng
Dates: June 19–24, 2017
Who: Current 6th-12th Grade Students

For several years, our student ministry has served in a variety of projects, partnering with Wayside Cross Urban Youth Ministry, a local ministry our church supports that does amazing work in the community all year long. We will help run the day camp in the early afternoon, and then have other opportunities to serve in various local ministries in the evenings.

Why Aurora?
We want our Student Ministry to be introduced to, exposed to, and immersed in the ongoing ministry in our neighboring community of Aurora. We want our students to gain an understanding of and a renewed passion for the work that God is doing in their local community, with the hope that they will come to see how God is at work all around them and around the world, and so continue to foster an emphasis on missions. This trip will involve a variety of opportunities for students to serve. It is great exposure to see that serving God can involve so many different activities that cater to all the different
skills and passions God has given each one of us. The week will be a great experience for teenagers to learn that they can find a place to serve now and do not need to wait until they are older. We desire to see this week transform the hearts and minds of students, igniting their desire to be involved in serving God in creative ways all year long.

While this is mainly a student trip, we would like to invite all who are interested in serving to join us! In fact, we need adults who have a heart for Jesus and teens to help facilitate this trip.

What will we do?

1. Camp Mentoring
We will run a Vacation Bible School type of ministry. This will take place in the mornings at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, which is located in the Aurora/Montgomery area. Students will be responsible for Bible stories, crafts and game times, not to mention sharing the love of Jesus with the students.
2. Work Projects
Wayside has a variety of ministries that need extra hands to help get the work done. We will make fundraising phone calls as well as help with other projects such as sorting clothes, painting, cleaning up buildings, etc. We are also looking at partnering with other local ministries such as PIC, the Refugee ministry at our Aurora campus or other local ministries. These ministries are yet to be determined.
3. Fellowship & Growth
Each evening will focus on fellowship and spiritual growth within the team. We will learn about community awareness and have a prayer drive in the area. Dinner every night will be at homes of various families from our campuses. We will also be hosted overnight by families from Village Bible Church.

Who should come on this trip?
We’re looking for mature students, GRADES 6-12, and adults who have a passion for serving their local community, love children, and are willing to do what it takes to show the love of Christ to those around them.

The Cost
$100
While you are responsible for the full amount, our goal is that you would pay 1/3 out of pocket, would raise 1/3 from outside of the church family, and would raise the final 1/3 through church fundraisers and gifts. We recommend bringing $20 pocket money for leisure.

Regretfully, payments made and funds raised are non-refundable as travel purchases are non-refundable.
